Registration fee, road fee when buying cranes — how to calculate the budget
When planning a budget to buy a crane truck, many customers only calculate the price of the car but forget the mandatory fees incurred when registering and circulating. Here are the two main fees to expect.
registration fee
This is a one-time fee for registering ownership of a vehicle, as a percentage of the vehicle value. Specific rates may vary depending on the location of registration, so customers should ask where they registered their vehicle before signing the contract.
# Road usage fee
This fee is collected according to the ** vehicle load **, based on the fee schedule specified in Decree 90/2023/ND-CP. General principles:
- The larger the truck, the higher the road toll.
- Tractor trucks charge according to the total weight of the vehicle itself plus the allowable towing weight, so there is usually a higher fee than trucks of the same segment.
- The fee is paid periodically (usually associated with the registration cycle), not only once.
Note: the fee schedule may be adjusted by the State from time to time, customers should confirm the current fee at the time of vehicle registration.
Recommendations
When receiving a crane truck quotation, ask the seller to clearly list these fees separately from the vehicle price, to properly estimate the total investment budget — avoid surprises when going to the vehicle registration office.
